Aim and Scope of the Journal
International Journal of Lifelong Learning (IJLL) is an open access, double blinded, peer reviewed e-journal that publishes once annually high quality original research of empirical and theoretical works as well as policy matters, ideas, developments and best practices that are significant and novel to lifelong learning.
IJLL seeks to contribute scholarly to the understanding of teaching and learning practices and policies in lifelong learning as well as improving the quality of educational opportunities for students, educators, institution managers and other practitioners of education in Nigeria and across the globe.
The journal welcomes articles, studies, issues, views, ideas and research findings from researchers and practitioners on lifelong learning and related areas of interest such as but not limited to:
- Adult Education
- Continuing Education
- Literacy and Mass Education
- Basic Education
- Curriculum Development
- Teacher Education
- Design-based Education
- Gender-based Education
- Early Childhood Education
- Digital and Media Education
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
The journal accepts articles that focus on teaching interventions or surveys on pedagogical approaches that discuss students’ achievement, performance, retention, learning in informal, out of school settings or other organizations. IJLL also targets articles that investigate the development of disciplinary skills and conceptual knowledge in the school subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental issues, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, technology among others that reflect on philosophical issues and the nature of lifelong learning.
In addition to inviting submissions from authors for its general issues, the journal also publishes special issues on key and emerging topics in lifelong learning.
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
The editorial policy of Interdisciplinary Journal of Lifelong Learning aims at giving authors timely and constructive feedback.
Manuscript Acceptance/ Peer Review
The appropriateness of the article for the journal is determined by the Managing Editor in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief. The article may not be accepted if your article is found to be outside the scope of the Journal. Submissions are assessed by the Editorial Board and are subject to external peer review using the single blind method whereby the authors are blinded to the identity of the reviewers and editors.
Appeals
Authors who feel they have grounds to appeal a rejection decision should send a refutation letter to the editorial office, describing the reasons for the appeal. Refutations will be considered by the Editor-in-Chief, often in consultation with the Editorial Board. Decisions on appeals are final.
Before submitting
- Approval – Ensure all authors have seen and approved the final version of the article prior to submission. All authors must also approve the journal you are submitting to.
- Open Access – The appropriate Open Access option must be selected on submission.
- Charges – Interdisciplinary Journal of Lifelong Learning is committed to keeping costs to authors to a minimum, however some charges may apply. Authors are responsible for familiarising themselves with these prior to submission. Full details are available on our Publication charges page.
Submission
Authors of well researched articles are to submit their articles via the Open Journal System (OJS). All articles submitted to the journal must be original and should in no way violate any existing copyright rules and publication ethics relating to defamation and other matters.
Submission Checklist
Your article
- Structure – Ensure the submission is structured as requested by the journal, and contains all relevant sections. Check ' Manuscripts Preparation ' for details.
- Title page – All submissions must have a title page stating all the relevant information.
- Format – All submissions should follow the journal guidelines for word count, page margins and line numbering.
- Reported data – Data accuracy is crucial. Authors are strongly encouraged to double check all reported data for accuracy.
- References – Please see ‘References’ for full details of the journal’s required referencing style.
- Graphics – All figures and tables should be presented in a clear and informative manner with accompanying legends.
Uploading your submission
- Author list – All authors must be listed on the title page and entered on the manuscripts submission page in the correct order. Ensure all author email addresses provided are valid. ORCID iDs can be added during the submission process, and will be displayed on the published article. Author’s information entered into Open Journal System will be used to generate PubMed listings for published papers.
- Cover Letter – This letter should introduce your paper and outline why your work is important and suitable for publication in this time.
- File formats – Ensure all files are in the correct format for revised submissions.
- Figures and tables – Ensure all figures and table files are presented and correct, and that they display clearly in the pdf proof.
